eServ helps Motorcycle Manufacturer with New Product Development

The Challenge

eServ’s engineering team applies experience, flexibility and creativity to help a major motorcycle manufacturer perform a complete update of one of it’s most popular motorcycle platforms.

• Perform as a seamless extension of the client engineering team utilizing their Concurrent Product & Process Delivery methodology.
• Deliver creative solutions that make styled components manufacturable and cost effective.
• Provide overall program management including customer interface, development of program timeline, FEA, FMEAs, test plans, supplier interaction and build support.
• Provide a 10% cost reduction to the program over the previous model year cost.

The Solution

Integrate an eServ point team at the customer facility while outsourcing task based assignments to our Peoria and Rock Island, IL, offices to remain fully flexible in our support of the program. This strategy created various benefits:

• Full communication and integration with the client by eServ’s point team.
• “Flexible Sourcing” - utilizing large resource pools in home offices, keeping program on schedule.
• “Right Sourcing” – getting the right person from our resource pool for each engineering task.
• “Value Sourcing” – billing for individual tasks only when service is provided, reducing costs.

The Result

Our client was able to successfully meet major milestones on the program schedule such as overall program reviews with management and build dates. Due to eServ’s program focus, the number of fundamentally sound options provided during the engineering process, the high level technical data provided and the high level of communication provided throughout the program phases, we increased the total ECN’s by over 25% for the same department costs.
